What the HELL is going on in Hockeytown?

Two games allowing 8 goals within a two-week span?!? REALLY?!

Before the 8-0 embarrassment handed to us by the Preds we hadn't allowed that many goals in OVER 2 YEARS!-according to the Free Press it was a 4-9 loss at San Jose January 4, 2007. WTF Red Wings? The scariest part is that this isn't about Ozzie at all, the team is playing like...well, they have nothing to play for. This team is stocked better than any team in the league yet they've accuired some sort of Bi-Polar disorder, unsure which version of the Wings team will show up to play on any given night. What's the issue? Vladdie's locker is still set up, complete with "Believe" stone. Pictures of the Production Line as well as other Wings greats are displayed throughout the locker room. I'm pretty sure if I were to ever step foot in that locker room it would bring me to tears, how can one not be inspired by that? Is this a relationship where one party has just fallen out of love?...with Hockey?

I'm not really sure but this team is beginning to resemble the rest of the state really. It's sad that there's so much potential on a roster that they should be scoring 4 and 5 goals every night, but there isn't anyone there to support them. NO, this does not mean Detroiters are bad fans, Detroit/Michigan hockey fans are some of the best in the world. But when your unemployment rate is a double-digit number there just isn't money to spend on hockey. Why would you pay $40 for a so-so seat at the Joe plus $10 to park (and hope to God you don't get hungry and have to pay Mr. I millions for that shit that he tries to pass off as pizza**) when you could sit at home and listen to Ken & Mick try to figure out what exactly the new rules of hockey are? Oh, and have little bits of incomprehendable Larry Murphy speak interjected into your Television viewing experience.

No one has the money to go see the Wings Mr. Ilitch. It's that simple. They've already won the Stanley Cup, there's no fans at The Joe to push them to repeate, thus the players have no drive to win. Mr. Ilitch lower ticket prices, get the fans back into the Joe, the true fans with basic cable who scream every time the Wings & Pistons overlap and our boys are relegated to FSN+ which is probably recieved by 1/10 of Hockeytown. The Detroit Red Wings don't play for six and seven-figure sallaries, they play for the love of the game, and to make others happy through their play. Hey, Nick would re-negotiate his contract so Franzen, Hossa, and Cheli*** might all remain Wings next season, but of course the "new NHL" does not allow for this. This team is dedicated to this game, but when they look into the stands they don't see anyone dedicated to them. This is your fault Mr. Ilitch, you are not dedicated to this team at this moment in time.

Bottom line: Only you Mr. Ilitch have the power to fill The Joe.

Wow I'm whiny tonite...

First Entry

Hmm, so hopefully this is fairly easy to use seeing as I'm technologically challenged; the last dealio like this did not end up well. What am I going to write about? Probably really opinionated shit that I feel like writing, a fairly large spot about cars, hockey (aka the Detroit Red Wings), the penninsulas and City of Detroit that I love. Oh and maybe even some poetry.

The name: The first house I lived in was on Mayville Street, it's where I had my first (through thirteenth) birthday, where I learned to ride a bike, where my tooth fairy came, and where I fell in love with a 97' Mustang, basically it's where I grew up. 10th Street is where my dorm is located (technically the address is Woodlawn but I think we'll all agree 10th sounds better) here at IU. Right now I basically feel like my life is an intersection of these two places so I feel like the name is pretty appropriate.
